Krishen Mehta
With the sensational revelations from the ‘Panama Papers’ still emerging, renowned expert Krishen Mehta will explain how some $30 trillion in illicit capital flows- to secrecy jurisdictions like Panama, Bermuda, Cayman Islands, Switzerland and Luxembourg- keep poor countries mired in poverty and increase global insecurity for everyone. Krishen will discuss what can be done about this pernicious global phenomenon, and explain how this has implications even for law-abiding countries like Japan. Widely consulted, Mr. Mehta appears in the acclaimed documentary on tax havens, ‘The Price We Pay.’ Mr. Mehta was a partner with PwC where he had a 30-year career in their NY, London, and Tokyo offices. He is now an Advisor to Tax Justice Network in London, and is a Senior Global Justice Fellow at Yale University. He is a frequent lecturer at the University of Tokyo. For Mr. Mehta’s bio, visit http://globaljustice.macmillan.yale.edu/people/krishen-mehta
